Ofcom - Ofcom.org.uk - Office of Communications (telephone, broadcasting, radio and communications regulator of the UK).
Ofcom.com - Swedish computer company. Pre-existed UK office of radio being called "Ofcom"
Ofcom - Ofcom.gov.uk - same as Ofcom.org.uk
Ofcom - Ofcom.co.uk - nothing to do with any Ofcom at all - just someone being clever in bagging the domain name!
The problem here is that the British authority could have listened to people who were advising them! They could have thought up a completely new name when they founded the organisation, but instead they have now got both a cybersquatting problem AND a pre-existing situation.
Any philosophical points about this, or any info of the type "Well I know someone else who's called OFCOM", please e-mail
